Jogulamba Temple, Alampuru.

Alampuru temple is situated in Alampuru town mahabubnagar district Telangana State, South India. It is in the banks of river Tungabhadra. According to Puranas it is also called as Bhaskara Kshetram, Parasurama Kshetram, Dakshina Kasi. The name of the town Alampuru is transformed from the original name Hemalapuram or Halampura.   Among the famous temples of South India Srisailam is the prominent one. It has four gateways on four sides of east, west, north and south.   There are 4 prominent temples on each of the 4 sides. East of Srisailam: Tripuranthakam South of Srisailam: Sidhapatam West of Srisailam: Alampuram North of Srisailam: Umamaheswaram. Alampuram, West of Srisailam is one of the 18 Shakti Peetas (Ashtadasa Shaktipeetas).  The main idols here are Jogulamba and Brahmeswarudu. This temple was built in 7th  century and in 9th century Sri Adi Shankara established Sri  Chakra as he did in Kamakshi temple Kanchi (see my article about
