Sri Lakshmi Ganapathi Temple, Bikkavolu.

Sri Lakshmi Ganapathi Temple, Bikkavolu is a 1100 year old Swayambhu temple. It is situated in Bikkavolu a small village in East Godavari District Andhra Pradesh. The village was actually called as Birudankinavolu and later transformed as Bikkavolu. During the East Chalukya period between 849 -892, The Chalukyas ruled this place with Bikkavolu as capital and constructed many temples. During the 9th century the chalukyas constructed this Swayambhu ( came itself out of the earth) Ganapathi temple. There was a route for soldiers just few yards away from the main idol but now it is called as a pit. The idol is big with 11 feet height and no one knows the base and how depth it is in the underground.  The specialty of this idol is the trunk turns towards south. It is believed that whoever whispers their desires in the ears of the idol they were granted the boons and they revisit the temple.
